Sorcerer will serve three years in prison

The Western Province man, who confessed to Tabubil Police to be a sorcerer, appeared at the Tabubil District Court on Friday. He was charged with two counts of assault, one count of insult and one count of unlawful entry on premises.

From police brief, it was alleged that on December 17 at around 2am, Mimal Lucas, aged 26, of Golgobip Village, was spotted by the occupant of the house inside the room, despite the doors being locked.  

The complainant said she was surprised to see the man when he went into her room while she was sleeping with her two children.

The Western Province man is now charged for cult practise and is behind bars at Tabubil Police Station.

The incident happened on December 17 at around 2am, the suspect, Mimal Lucas, appeared inside a house despite all the doors being locked.  

According to Police report, the complainant stated that at that time, she was with her two daughters in their room when the man went in.

She coughed when she saw Mimal, which alerted him to walk out of the room and come out of the house.

Police officers to keep discipline during festive season

“2016 is the Police Commissioner’s year of discipline and the commissioner had strongly emphasised on police officers throughout the country to uphold their discipline,” said Tabubil Police Station Commander Inspector Wesley Tomutagweda.  

He was addressing local police and Mobile Squad 05 personnel currently based at Tabubil providing security for Ok Tedi Mine in Western Province.

Tomutagweda challenged his command to be impartial when performing their duties and also make adjustment to change in their individual policing work in 2017.

Tabubil police operations to start soon

Tabubil Police Station Commander Inspector Wesley Tomutagweda said the festive operation will start on December 19 and end on January 3 in the New Year.    

The local police have started doing awareness leading up to its festive operations.

“The police and the Assert Protection Department (APD) security already started conducting Road Safety Awareness within Tabubil Township,” Tomutagweda said.
