Priority areas outlined in SHP budget

The key areas include law and justice sector, school fee subsidy, technical vocational education training rolling out program, agricultural and rural electrification programs.    

The construction of the National Court Judge’s residence is currently underway and K3 million counter-funding with the Mendi District Development Authority for a new courthouse has been allocated.

In the Law and Justice sector, K1 million has been allocated for Buyabi Jail facilities as the provincial government’s first priority to address law and order issues in the province.

K500, 000 for SHPHOC

He made the presentation in Port Moresby to Chairman of the SHPHOC, Sape Molumi, on Moday January 14th. 

The K500, 000 presented is from the 2018 commitment made by Provincial Government.

This amount is separate from the K10 million which has been allocated in the 2019 Provincial Budget for the necessary infrastructure.

Governor Powi said the presentation is a sign of the commitment of the Provincial Government. Games.

Power to suspend not with NEC: PM

He said this is a parliamentary decision.  

The Prime Minister’s clarification comes after demands from William Powi’s supporters to uplift the suspension of the Southern Highlands Provincial Government.

Following reports of the suspension, angry supporters aggressively showed their disapproval by marching through Nipa with weapons and placards, demanding for the PM to lift it. 

But it seems there has been a misunderstanding as Prime Minister O’Neill said NEC does not have that power.
