Lutheran Synod

PM commits to building Lutheran university

He recently announced this in front of thousands of Lutheran faithful at the 32nd Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG Synod at Boana in Nawaeb, Morobe.

He urged the synod to continue working on the concept of the Lutheran university and not to stop.

Marape said the Government will be working on the university this year and hopefully by 2025, when the nation celebrates 50 years of Independence, the Lutheran university will be established.

He also supported a call by Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu for the establishment of a Lutheran elementary teachers college.

Rush hour at Voco Point today

As Christians who travelled into Lae early this week rushed to organize their voyage with the Coastal Shipping Services, more turned up lately at the seafront, finding their own way to the venue through locally operated banana boats.

They came in bus loads from  the highlands region and elsewhere to attend the Evangelical Lutheran Church's bi-ennial gathering which is scheduled for next week.

Locals offer discount on boat fare

A boat owner with  75 horse-power engine, Elizabeth Posa said all operators agreed to charge K80 per person, rather than the usual K100.

The Morobeans have not taken advantage of the situation to charge more.

This morning her boat (pictured) ferried 17 passengers in the first run. They are members of the Madang and Goroka districts.

"I am standing here organising the delegates to get on my boat, so when the operator returns he will make two more runs before the end of the day," said Posa.
