Police personnel urged to be neutral during Elections

The directive is to control the misuse of delegated duties, to minimise the abuse of police powers and corrupt practices during the polling and counting periods.

Andrews said due to the importance of casting of votes and counting of ballot papers he has directed that tight security and safety will be maintained by Police, Defence and CS personnel in all polling and counting locations throughout the country.

Traffic Police graduate after specialized training

The training was carried in conjunction with the RPNGC Traffic Directorate.

Assistant Police Commissioner for Operations, Jim Andrews on behalf of the Commissioner for Police presented the officers their medal to signify their completion of skill enhancement and practical training.

ACP Andrews thanked the Australian Federal Police through the Australian Government for putting into motion the initiative of training the members of the RPNGC especially the traffic division.

2018 APEC security planning progressing well

Assistant Police Commissioner for Operations, Jim Andrews said the plans for security with the help of foreign intelligence from our neighbours, has come a long way and is progressive.

ACP Andrews says that with those plans, we will need all the assistance we can get from foreign friends like Australia, New Zealand to name a few.

He says he is hopeful that all security planning towards the 2018 APEC Summit will be very successful.

“This is our main strategic aim and that is to provide the best in terms of security related details.”

Kerema becomes 18th FSVU desk to be opened

This brings to 18 FSVU desks opened throughout the country. During the opening DPC Andrews said this was a positive step forward for Papua New Guinea in the fight against family and sexual violence.

Kerema strengthens law and order with FSVU

The FSVU building situated right in the heart of Kerema town police station was a partnership project between the Australian Government, the PNG Government and the RPNGC to serve the locals due to a high number of family violence cases in the area.

Australian High Commissioner Rod Hilton urged the locals at the ceremony to make use of the service that is put in place for their use.

"I would encourage the people to make good use of the FSVU by reporting cases concerning violence in family," he said.
