Polling for Enga may be delayed

Provincial election manager Anton Iamau revealed this afternoon that pre-counting of ballot papers in three electorates has not been completed.

Iamau said pre-counting in Lagaip Pogera, Wabag and Wapenamanda is expected to be completed tonight before polling can commence.

Meantime, pre-counting in Kandep and Kompiam-Ambum have been completed.

Iamau adds that they’re also waiting for security personnel to arrive on ground before the one day polling can commence in the electorates.

NCD counting preparations underway

The exact date for counting is yet to be confirmed but the team anticipates to start no later than this week.

Jimmy said he and his team are working around the clock to ensure all counting materials, kits and logistics and venues are set before counting starts.

Counting officials have commenced their training today as part of the lead up preparation.

Counting for Moresby South will be done at KilaKila Secondary School Hall, Moresby North East at Sir John Guise Stadium while Moresby North West & NCD Provincial at Rita Flynn Courts.

NCD regional candidates petition officials

The petitions were for NCD Election Manager Alwyn Jimmy, NCD Police Commander Sylvester Kalaut and Police Commissioner Gari Baki.

NCD Regional seat heavyweights Jamie Maxtone Graham, Andy Bawa, Noel Anjo, Steven Kilage, Robert Agen and other notable candidates were signatories to the petitions.

The first petition addressed to NCD Election Manager Alwyn Jimmy demanded for;

  • CCTV cameras to be installed in counting venues
  • Counting to be done only during daytime

And for electronic counting to be implemented.

Sandaun polling progressing

Anskar told Loop PNG this morning that the polling for the 99 teams in the province is progressing well and on schedule.

The 14 days of nationwide polling for the 2017 National Election will end on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Returning Office for Nuku, Francis Yawalan said the four LLG in the district will complete polling by Tuesday.

Nuku district has more than 37, 000 eligible voters on the electoral roll and 16 polling teams covering the mountainous electorate.

Meantime in the Vanimo Green River District, only Walsa LLG have completed polling.
