The feasibility study for the K23 million projects to be located in Sirinki had been completed, and the signing of the ‘deed of agreement’ today paves way for ground work to start next month.

The feasibility study started in 2014.

He thanked the National Government for releasing K5 million, which the EPG topped up with K1 million to pay for shareholding in the project.

Flights to Wapenamanda on the increase

Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas who initiated the arrangement 14 years ago, says flights have increased from one to 14 flights weekly.

Currently Air Niugini subsidiary Link PNG operates to Wapenamanda Airport which serves the entire province.

The Provincial Government started with K250, 000 airfares subsidise funding but in the last two years had increased the funding to K1 million, Sir Peter revealed.

He added that the subsidised cost for 2016 will be paid to the State-owned airline when funding is made available to the provincial government.
