Enga launches K4.5m health facility

Enga Provincial Government has made another progress with the ground breaking ceremony for the development of a K4.5 million health facility.

The modern community health centre to be built at Tukusenda village near Surunki is among four such projects which are being funded within the province by the Asian Development Bank under the rural primary health service program.

The others will be built at Porea in Laiagam, Monakam and Kasi in the Kompiam-Ambum districts.

Enga Provincial health authority chief executive officer Aron Luai said Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, his government and administration deserved credit for their significant input in ensuring that the “life-saving projects” were materialised.

“Governor Sir Peter Ipatas and his government deserve credits for ensuring that we get this projects realized. I also thank the other partners including the national Department of Health and ADB for their collective effort in supporting our desire to have these projects,” he said.

The total cost of the developments will be more than K18 mllion.

Sir Peter Ipatas said health remained top on his priority list besides education.

He said his government and administration would continue to work closely with the parties involved in terms of providing necessary assistance to ensure that all four projects were completed on time.

Sir Peter said his government also started revamping existing health facilities in the districts including Kandep, Wabag, Kungumanda, Kompiam, Yampu and Sopas with funds to ensure that basic health services were provided to the small people.

The leader, who is also widely known as the “Action Governor” said the existing health facilities would be complimented meaningfully with the construction of the state of the art K500 million plus health facility to be built near the Wabag rugby league field.
