​Aust students to undertake PNG work placements

This follows the announcement of the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan 2018 mobility placements.

“We look forward to welcoming students from James Cook University and the University of Newcastle throughout 2018 to further their study and work experience, while deepening their understanding of Australia’s closest neighbour,” Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Bronte Moules, said.

“The 24 students will take part in three projects in Papua New Guinea next year, across a range of fields including anthropology, agriculture and the environment.”

ARoB celebrates K8.6m resealed road

This project lays the foundation for greater economic activity in the region.  

The K8.6 million project was delivered as part of Australia’s long-running partnership with the Autonomous Bougainville Government to help maintain Bougainville’s road network. It complements the recent K4.7 million project to seal a number of town roads in Arawa. 

Australia’s deputy envoy commends Lewas

Ms Moules made the comments during a reception for visiting international cricket legends and representatives of the Lewas led by Vice-captain Ravini Oa.

The Lewas following their success in the ICC East Asia Pacific qualifiers are now preparing for the 2017 World Cup qualifiers in Sri Lanka.

Off the field, the team is part of the Australian-funded Girls Empowerment through Cricket and Kriket Blo Olgeta programs, in partnership with Cricket PNG.
