PNGDF personnel arrested for bashing up captain’s son

A PNGDF lieutenant and a soldier are currently apprehended at the Waigani Police Station for bashing up a PNDGF captain’s son.

The incident took place on Sunday, 27th November, at the army barracks at ATS when Captain Patrick Minjihau’s son and his friend were drinking outside his home.

They were allegedly approached by another group of officers, who were also drinking the previous night (Saturday).

They had a heated argument when one of the two boys swore at them. The men then retaliated by punching the boys.

The boys were chased into their own yard by the soldiers, where they turned and chased the officers out again.

During that time, an officer picked up a piece of dry wood and hit the son’s ear, resulting in blood surging out of his ears and nose.

Captain Minjihau, who was home at that time, walked over to break the fight.

“Due to his state and condition of his wound, we quickly rushed him to the Port Moresby General Hospital to get treated,” Captain Minjihau says.

He reported the incident to the Gordon Police Station Minor Crimes after admitting his son at the hospital.

Police later arrested and charged two of the officers.

Both are currently locked up at the Waigani Police Station, awaiting their court appearance.
