Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority acting chief executive officer, Dr Jonah Kurubi officially opened the new facilities on Monday 7^th August, 2023.

The staff clinic and on-call rooms were established to manage risk and promote the safety of both staff and patients in the hospital hence; a hospital that runs 24/7 and has very high trauma rates and limited staff must have Doctors (registrars and residents) on call.

He is Philip Talpa, former deputy director of Rural District Health Services of the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority.

Yesterday, a brief handover take-over ceremony was held at McRoyals Hotel in Mt Hagen with outgoing CEO Douglas Lingawa.

Outgoing CEO Lingawa said he served the district for 21 years and is happy to vacate the public office with peace.

“I am at peace to hand over the leadership to Philip, he has been the Administrator before, we made a first hand over and take over ceremony and this is the second time,” Lingawa said.
