We still remain united, says Polye

This is the independence message from the Opposition Leader Don Polye on the country’s 41st independence anniversary.

He said this day, 41 years ago, our founding fathers charted a new destiny for this nation.

No other country parallels this achievement.

“Let us now learn from the past, analyse the present, and decide for the future. We must demonstrate that we are capable of managing our own affairs.

“It’s time now to take stock of how we as a nation have come this far and plan for the next 41 years.

Katua goes down in first Olympic fight

The Men’s Light (60kg) division fight took place this morning in Rio at 11.00am (12am PNG time) at the Riocentro 6.

It was a David and Goliath battle with the nineteen-year-old lad from Bougainvillean going up against the 26-year-old Russian with a high level of skill and experience.

But Katua showed heart against Abdurashidov with not much separating both boxers in all three rounds.

Abdurashidov won all three rounds 29-28, 29-28, 30-27.

Katua was bitterly disappointed after his bout believing he had done enough to claim victory.

K75.6 million TFF to be paid out this week

This is the half payment for term two in this academic year.

Education Minister Nick Kuman said the first term of the Government’s obligation of K150 million has been fully met.

“I don’t see any reason why schools should close their doors to students due to TFF payments.

“We’re a bit too slow in our TFF disbursement due to the cash flow situation in the country however, we are committed to delivering the TFF to the schools.

“We will ensure that the funds will be paid,” Kuman said.

As is the case with most of the designer greats—Tom Ford, Christian Dior, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, etc.—after seasons of spectacular shows and retail success, there comes a point when an accompanying beauty line is imminent. After all, whose cosmetics do you think big-league designers want to use at their runway shows? So considering Victoria's wildly popular clothing line coupled with her knockout runway shows, it's naturally time that the self-made fashionista would dip her toes into the beauty world—well, almost.
