Attackers to be charged

The NCD Metropolitan police commander, Perou N’Dranou says that the situation in the Tatana village is still tense with police maintaining a presence on ground.

A meeting will be held with village elders to see how best police they can resolve the situation before tensions rise again.

N’Dranou outlined that while the man will also be investigated for rape allegations brought against him while in custody, the attackers will still need to be held accountable for taking the law into their own hands.

Sea piracy case awaits submissions

This case has been outstanding because the court is awaiting submissions from the six defendants’ lawyers.

It went for mention on Monday during a Committal Court sitting before Magistrate John Kaumi at Bomana, where he adjourned the case to July 17.

Tatana volleyball tourney kicks off

More than 20 teams are taking part in the tournament in the Under 21 and senior divisions.

These include visiting teams from as far as Hula, Mekeo, Porebada, Boera and Lealea from Central and teams from National Capital District such as Moukele, Kauka and Hillside Gerehu, Hanuabada and Vabukori.

The tournament began today with the U21 competition while the senior competition will begin next week.
