Madang town mayor supports touch football

He says Madang has produced great rugby touch players who have represented Madang, and the country as a whole.

Yama says the aim of him funding rugby touch is to bring back the touch spirit in the district and province.

He says his commitment of K10, 000 this year is to revive the Madang touch association and he will appoint an interim executive to help develop touch footy

He says that with successfull completion of the 2015 touch tournament “I see that youths involve more in touch with a proven record of 28 teams than other sporting codes’’.

Performances nationally and abroad from individual athletes, teams and from Team PNG have stamped PNG’s foot on the world stage sporting arena.

Rugby League:

The SP PNG Hunters finished off the Intrust Super Cup competition in third place in only their second season in the second tier level of rugby league.

Israel Eliab was named Five-Eighth of the Year and subsequently named in the 2015 Team of the Year.

UPNG courts get make over thanks to BSP

The upgrade of the courts was done through BSP’s 2015 Community Project Initiative aimed to give something back to communities.

The new courts have been coated with splashes of green, new basketball hoops installed and benches installed around the playing area.

UPNG Representative, Professor Mange Matui said that BSP’s contribution to sporting facilities was timely as the Pacific Games were coming and the refurbished facilities will be beneficial to the UPNG Community.
