Semi Radradra

Radradra bound for Bordeaux

The former Fiji and Australia rugby league international signed a one-year deal with Toulon for the current campaign after quitting NRL side Parramatta Eels to switch codes.

Radradra, who can operate on the wing or as a centre, will be lining up against the three-time European champions next season after signing a two-year deal with Bordeaux.

The 25-year-old powerhouse scored two tries in Toulon's 36-12 victory over his future employers at Stade Mayol last weekend.

Radradra bagged the first four-try haul of his 70-game NRL career on Sunday night in the Eels' 34-16 flogging of St George Illawarra in Wollongong - marking the fifth hat-trick of his career.

He scored his first three tries on the left wing, completing relatively simple moves down the Parramatta edge and receiving the final ball from either Michael Jennings or Corey Norman.

Semi Radradra to quit NRL at end of season and head for Toulon

The Eels have been trying to re-sign the Fijian winger but the rugby league club couldn’t match the deal offered by the Top 14 side which is worth $1m a season, according to News Corp Australia.

Parramatta chief executive Burnie Gurr released a statement on Wednesday night, confirming Radradra was headed to France.

The Eels winger accepted an offer to play for Toulon over the 2017/18 European rugby season, with an option for a second year.

Radradra, 24, had a turbulent year in 2016, including injury, a Test debut for the Kangaroos and then domestic violence charges, which are due to be heard in court in February.

According to Parramatta chief executive Bernie Gurr, the Eels made a "very attractive" offer to Radradra to sign through the 2019 season, but Toulon's off was "substantially higher" than the NRL club's.

The case was scheduled to be heard today, but it has emerged that the winger left the country last Wednesday, to be with his ill father in Fiji.

His lawyers submitted a letter from a doctor in Fiji, which referred to his father's asthma and pulmonary tuberculosis.

"He's clearly been on treatment for some time. What's changed?" Magistrate Tim Keady asked.

"I accept, it could be more substantive," Radradra's barrister Murugan Thangaraj SC said.

The court heard the hearing date had been set in September and recently confirmed.

Fifita, Radradra to sit out Four Nations

Andrew Fifita and Semi Radradra have been omitted from Australia's Four Nations squad.

Fifita scored the winning try in Cronulla Sharks' NRL Grand Final victory over Melbourne Storm on Sunday, but will not travel to England with the Kangaroos.

The 27-year-old prop caused controversy in the 2016 season by wearing an armband during a match displaying a message of support for a friend, convicted one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge.

Radradra had been given permission by the club to fly to Fiji for a short family visit during the bye round, with media reports claiming the player had told the club he would not be coming back.

But in a club statement, the Eels say Radradra will be returning to prepare for the team's next game against the Sharks, with the star back remaining with Parramatta through to 2017.
