Gordon International students exhibit science innovations

Their innovative projects range from technological inventions and models of 22nd century boats, creative ideas surrounding renewable energy for sustainable development.

From the knowledge on how to save energy, the students have created innovative products that contribute globally to sustainable development.

The students in Grades 1 and 2 based their creative ideas on how to conserve the environment.

The Grades 3 and 4 looked into the future and designed boats for the 22nd century and renewable energy inventions like solar power and wind turbines.

Workshop on renewable energy underway at UPNG

The workshop is conducted by European Platform for Intelligent Cities' (EPIC) from September 5-6.

It involves stakeholders from PNG Power, Energy and Petroleum, Climate Change Development Authority and business houses.

The EPIC project which began in 2013 and has two specific outcomes, to create a master program for renewable energy management and the creation of a Centre of renewable energy in PNG.

“ADB is the largest investor in renewable energy in the Pacific, which is still heavily reliant on diesel for power generation,” said Michael Trainor, Energy Specialist in ADB’s Pacific Department. “We are working with governments and communities to improve the quantity and quality of energy services across the region by ramping up support for the transition to renewable energy.”

“ADB’s energy operations in the Pacific aim to boost energy security, support low-carbon growth and help expand access to modern energy services,” said Michael Trainor, Energy Specialist in ADB’s Pacific Department.

“Our energy policy rests on promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy, capacity building, and energy sector reform.”
