Tapping into the rice industry

  A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed yesterday in Port Moresby, for scientific and technical collaboration to promote and disseminate high yielding, climate smart and healthier rice varieties.

Agriculture Minister John Boito emphasized on the importance of rice production agreements becoming a reality during last night’s signing ceremony.

Minister Boito spoke of the significant move towards ensuring the rice industry does not echo the unfulfilled promises of the past.

Maneke calls for more research

He made the call on Wednesday, Nov 07, 2022 at the official launching of the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) National Results Framework 2022-2023 and Strategic Implementation Plan 2022 -2027 in Lae, Morobe Province.

“Research in the country must be sustainably supported by all commodities and that is where we can be able to independently enable us on how we can do things.

Inception workshop to strengthen food production

The project “Strengthening food production capacity and the resilience to drought of vulnerable communities” is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by NARI in partnership with provincial and district administrations, and other relevant NGOs.

The workshop is expected to attract over 40 representatives from 20 districts of 11 lowland provinces to be covered under this project. Senior managers of NARI and representatives from EU office in PNG are also expected to participate in this event.
