Velma Ninjipa and her dad were travelling back after a youth camp on the night of Good Friday, March 30th, when they were attacked in an attempted carjacking at the Winzu Lodge carpark, Boroko.
While her father escaped without any serious injuries, Velma was shot in the face and now remains in critical condition at PIH.
She has a broken jaw and shattered teeth.
The 34-year-old Southern Highlands woman has undergone her first facial surgery from which two pellets were removed from her right cheek.
