Young geologist shares story

Of Gulf and East New Britain parentage, the young geologist’s hope of ever fulfilling her dream seemed out of reach when her father was imprisoned.

“When I was in Grade 12, my father had just gone to jail and my family and I were struggling,” Haru shared at the recent Business and Professional Women’s (BPW) club breakfast that was held in Port Moresby.

“My mother was doing her best to make ends meet but we were barely making it to the next fortnight.


ABG condemns killing of geologist

On behalf of the Bougainville Executive Government and its people, President Momis expressed sorrow for the loss of a very talented and experienced geologist from Enga Province.

“It is deeply regrettable that this experienced geologist came here to share his skills and expertise with Bougainville and to lose his life this way is totally unacceptable and the people of Bougainville are truly very sorry for this unfortunate incident,” he said.

Geologist awarded scholarship under new partnership

Ivano, from Eastern Highlands Province, was nominated by his employer, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited.

Ivano was selected as a result of his outstanding performance and the leadership potential he has shown in his workplace.

“I am very grateful to my employer Kumul Petroleum Holdings, Santos Limited and the Australian government for this privilege to further my studies. Such partnerships are needed to help facilitate progress and development of nationals in PNG and I am humbled to be given this opportunity,” he said.
