Everyday People: Anna Kuka

Anna Grace Kuka she hails from Simbu and Jiwaka and loves to help people.

Kuka graduated with a Bachelor of Arts - Social Work in 2022. She was an intern with ChildFund PNG at that time, and now works as a permanent staff.

Improve Helpline Services For Survivors

In addressing this, the CIMC-Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee in partnership with ChildFund PNG will be implementing the second phase of the FSVAC project. 

This phase will focus on phone counselling and referral helpline to toughen services in the target provinces of East New Britain and Milne Bay. The aim is to improve local responses when addressing FSVAC in the country.

Flood relief for over 600 families

Heavy and continuous rain, which caused the St Joseph River to flood its banks into the nearby villages, damaged food gardens, human settlements, drowned animals, flooded drinking water wells, schools and the Veifa’a health centre. Since the floods hit, there have been several cases of water borne diseases reported.

​Interns to help survivors on Kaunselin Helpim Line

The 1-Tok Kaunselin Helpim Lain – 7150 8000 – was launched in August 2015 and delivers a comprehensive counselling and referral service for survivors of family and sexual violence (FSV) through a national toll-free hotline, providing survivors and their families an immediate and comprehensive support package.

The package includes access to information, referral to nearby service providers and personal and confidential counselling at the time of the call.
