Laufa’s family want justice and closure of tragic event

Sister of the late Ruby Ann Laufa, Sheridan Laufa has come out to the media representing the Laufa family to seek justice and closure for their late daughter and sister.

Born years apart from each other and growing up, Sheridan described the relationship between her and her sister Ruby Ann as a very close one.

Sheridan spoke telling her side of how she had seen her sister in the past two years and how her sister had suddenly become so distant during that time until she met her fate.

“That was about the same time she met this guy, Richard Namaliu and for the last two years she had pulled away and become very distant,” Sheridan says.

She said she only got to know him (Richard) when he and Ruby were already in a relationship.

“Personally, I didn’t know him that much and after what has happened, to me, I believe that a lot of time he would put up a face in front of us.”

Sheridan says she was aware that her sister, Ruby Ann was in an abusive relationship recalling back to an incident that occurred early last year.

“I confronted him (Richard) after finding out that he threw Ruby Ann down the stairs and she ran into the house to tell me of what he had done.”

“That’s when I knew he was capable of abuse and I confronted him about it and that what I would have done if I had only knew about what he was doing to Ruby Ann.”

Sheridan says leading up to when she passed away, she didn’t know much of what was going on in the relationship.

“She kept me in the dark and she had also put up a front so to me, I thought everything was okay.”

Sheridan adds that according to her dad, Maurice Laufa had known that the two were going out and noting that he had worked together with the Namaliu family before, he assumed that because he (Richard) came from a good family and was a of good character.

Sheridan expressed her concern on the Ruby Ann’s case that she and her family would like to see more being done and the truth about what had happened to her sister told.

“I would like for her story to be told full and this can only be done by all witnesses coming forward or evidence being presented.”

She believes that her sister was fatally assaulted physically to the point where it took her life adding that they have their theory and she would like that theory to be supported by all this witness statements and evidence.

“Evidence showing and stating is not acceptable because we know her and we know that she was not suicidal or depressed to the point where she would want to take her own life.”

Sheridan concluded by stating that she would like him (Richard Namaliu) to come out and deal fully with the consequences of his actions.
