Fallen tree blocks off city road

Port Moresby motorists are forced to use the footpath due to the Three-Mile road being blocked by a fallen tree.

Workmen are cutting the fallen tree, which had completely blocked off one side of the main road.

Motorists driving towards Manu Auto Port are using the footpath because of the blockade.

The raintree, which grows beside the road opposite the Port Moresby General Hospital, had fallen earlier this morning due to the continuous lighting of fire at its roots.

Meanwhile, the public roads in Port Moresby are not busy, as is common on a Monday.

Public markets and shops are open today, with city residents going about their daily routines on this public holiday.

There is no major public activity planned for the city on this Boxing Day.
