Family of 7 loses son in collision

Among the over 40 victims of Monday’s Warakalap vehicle collision, Western Highlands Province, was a family of seven.

The family’s eldest 10-year-old son tragically lost his life while 5 of the remaining family members received severe injuries; only the youngest, a two-year-old, escaped unscathed.

Ps Stanley Ebi and wife Nancy said at the Warakalap check point, the driver of their PMV bus was speeding along a sharp turn when all of a sudden, they found themselves rolling four or five times down a cliff.

The parents are students of Pabarabuk Pacific Bible College and they were involved in the accident just a few kilometers shy of the college.

Ps Stanley and Nancy are final year students from the Pacific Bible College at Pabarabuk in the Lower Nebilyer area, Western Highlands Province. They were returning with their children after spending a one-week holiday in Mendi when they had the accident.

Ps Stanley is at the Accidents and Emergency Ward while Nancy and the children are admitted at the paediatric ward.

Apart from broken bones, Ps Ebi suffers broken ribs.

“The broken ribs are poking my lungs so a final check has been scheduled for me,” he says.

The family is admitted at the Mt Hagen Provincial Hospital.
