RSPCA is grateful for volunteers who helped during school holidays

Fourteen- year-old Hanua Norman travels about 40 minutes per day to get in from his village in Gaire to Four-Mile.

He then catches a bus to Waigani Central to the RSPCA Vet Clinic just so he can be with our furry friends.

“Hanua and 20 other holiday makers signed up this festive season to volunteer at our clinic”.

The volunteer work allows individuals to get first-hand experience in learning how to take proper care of domestic animals such as cats and dogs.

Volunteers assist with cleaning the kennels, feeding the animals, bathing them and exercising them. Exercising involves taking the puppies and doggies out of their cages to spend 20 minutes outside, just playing and running around, practicing to walk with leads.

Hanua is a shy young lad who has dedicated over a month of volunteer work to assisting in the kennels.

His favourite part of volunteer work is exercising (which involves playing) the puppies. He attends Gaire Primary School in the Central Province.
