There’s something about IBSU…

There’s something that makes the Institute of Business Studies University different from other institutions in the country.

This was obvious during the announcement of its sponsored contestant to the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP).

A trend that started last year, which even has the Vice Chancellor Edward Silva’s support, IBS is committed to continue sponsoring a female student yearly into this national pageant.

The recently made university views this as a way of women empowerment.

“IBS is not only concentrating on education – we need to make the complete personality, especially for women,” said Silva.

“So the best part is, we encourage our own students, we don’t sponsor anybody else. The students are our strength and this is the very reason why we encourage our young ladies to come up and be a leader.”

The institute notes the leadership qualities acquired from the experience of being attached with the pageant.

“Winning is only one aspect, but taking the leadership is greater. In this country, women leadership is required,” he added.

The institute last year sponsored Samantha Kuase, a student there. This year’s Miss IBS is Rosemary Pawih, already proving worthy of the title, and advocating on child abuse.

She is the secretary of a student association – the Business and Economics Enhancement Syndicate – one of the many student clubs at the institute involved in community service.

IBSU has three schools: School of Accounting and Finance, School of Information and Technology and School of Business and Economics.
