Polye blames governments for country’s mismanagement

Opposition Leader Don Polye has blamed successive governments for the mismanagement of the nation’s resources.

Polye further blamed the present governments for adding more misery to the nation’s compounding problems.

In his independence message, Polye said the country’s social indicators are some of the worst in the region and in the Asia Pacific.

“We have the biggest economy and we are the envy of many nations yet these huge revenue returns do not reflect in our rural areas.”

He said despite having a number of mines and oil fields apart from revenue from agricultural and fishery sectors, this has failed to turn the country around.

“Our problems have been our leaders’ failure to manage our resources for the benefit of our people.”

Polye added that the government of the day must take up the responsibility to correct these mistakes as it has done more damage to this nation then any other governments.

“Now is NOT the time to blame past governments.

“Now is the time to admit our mistakes, learn from them and charter a way forward for our country. Our people deserve better and we must live up to their expectations.

“We must learn to listen to them and deliver services as they wish for they have mandated us to do just that. We must weed our all forms of corruption within the government system.

“We must provide that better government that will lead the country in the next 41 years,” says Polye

Polye is calling on all leaders to admit their failures and learn from them to provide a better government for the people.
