Parkop initiates program to help students

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has initiated a School Fee Assistance program to support parents and families that are finding it hard to pay for their children’s technical and tertiary education.

It is another form of scholarship assistance apart from the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET).

Terence Moka, the Executive Officer to the NCD Governor said the whole idea for such scholarships is to give second chance to the unfortunate youths who have been pushed out of school.

The NCD Governor’s scholarships covers students attending various technical and tertiary institutions who are permanent NCD residents.

Moka said the NCD Governor is supporting the students with such positive initiatives because he believes in their education for a better future.

He said the Governor is helping them because he believes that such little assistance would make a big difference in the long run.

He said Port Moresby City does not have natural resources nor cash crops but has the human resource which Governor Parkop is supporting through such initiatives so that in the future, they will come back and work to develop the city.

“The Governor is a great leader who wants to leave a legacy behind so that when he is gone, he knows that the country is in safe hands,” Moka added.

He said these are some challenges they will face as young people and future leaders of this country and must make wise choices.
