Man and woman jailed in Kerema porn crackdown

A man and woman have been jailed for 6 months with hard labour for their part in a pornography ring in Kerema town.

Gulf Police Commander Lincon Gerari says that the two were part of a group arrested and charged for producing porn materials last week.

The duo were sentenced on Friday afternoon while the case involving two other females, one of whom is a 15 year old, has been adjourned to the 5th of next month.

The other woman wanted in the porn case has yet to appear in court.

Meantime, commander  Gerari says that this case is the tip of the ice-berg as he says that it is an indication of a breakdown in moral ethics in the town area.

He says that once directives have been sorted out he will launch a full scale operation to look into the sordid porn culture that he says is gripping the town.

Gerari says that all public servants and youths in and around the town have been put on alert with police carrying out community toksaves about the penalties of producing pornographic materials.

He says that youths are also being targeted for them to realise the bad impacts that taking part in and distributing porn will have on them.
