Chiefs call for peaceful solutions in AROB

Issues on Bougainville must be sorted out in a peaceful manner or go to the courts if you want justice to be served.

Chiefs in Buka have condemned the actions of a particular person (name known) who hijacked a car belonging to Raibro Construction and crashed with it.

Raibro Construction is the company that is carrying out the second phase sealing of the Buka ring road.

A village chief from Buka who did not want to be named  told Loop PNG that the time for such acts have long gone and it is now time for the law to step up.

“Word says an employee of the company crashed one of his cars in an accident and instead of telling police he took the law in his own hands,” the chief said.

“We can also say this is hindering the development of our region because what if the company withdraws its operations?”

“That is what we’re concerned about and crimes like this must not go unnoticed by our authorities,” he said.

“Here in Buka we were the first ones to bring in peace on Bougainville and the first ones to be developed, and we must lead on for the rest of Bougainville to follow, but actions like this have now hampered everything,” the chief said.

“We’re acting like there is no law and order and all this must stop. If you have a problem we have the courts there and also the police are on standby,” he said.
