Water supply helps villagers

A total of K5 million was allocated for the water supply in the Papa Lealea village, through the IDG funds from the Cetral Provicial Government.

The two villages will now have access to 40 taps of water located in different areas of the village including the Papa primary school, Bogi and Metago.

Although the water supply will be supplied for free for the first 17 days, the grace period will end on the 31st of December, taking note of the day the supply started.

Meantime, the struggle will be final lessened for villagers and especially the women folk .

An emotional Women representative, Vagi Sariman highlighted the struggles the women folk especially elderly and very young girls have been facing for a long time.

She said, she remembered vaguely when they would line up in front of the only water supply system of five water taps at their church. And when the tap ran dry, they had to drink water dug from wells, near the shore.

"It was a real struggle," she said.

But now it has been improved.

She challenged the villagers to take ownership, noting that water supply will. Now allow not only daily survival but also sustainability.

The women rep said water can be used for many things and with the supply now, it must be used for the beautifying, sustainability and even boosting of livelihoods.
