ELC Hagen launches reformation celebrations

The launching was held at the Queen’s Park Oval.

The big day falls on the 31st of October and thousands of Lutheran members are expected to attend; both within Western Highlands, Jiwaka and other highlands provinces.

Lutheran Renewal, Lutheran Reform and other Christian denominations are expected to join in the observance of Reformation Day as well.

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadai, Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti and other Members of Parliament are also expected to attend.

 

Reformation day: Pope Francis marks Luther anniversary in Sweden

The Pope appealed to Catholics and Lutherans to "mend" history and look with honesty at the past, "recognising error and seeking forgiveness".

By tradition, on 31 October 1517 the German theologian Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of a church.

The papal visit kicks off a year of events to mark the quincentenary.

Pope Francis and Lutheran leaders presided over a ecumenical prayer service in Lund cathedral in southern Sweden on Monday.
