PNG APEC Study Centre opens today

Papua New Guinea APEC Ambassador Ivan Pomaleu and Australian High Commissioner to

PNG, Bruce Davis, will officiate at the event at the PNG National Research Institute campus in Port

Moresby.

The PNG ASC was established with support from the PNG-Australia Partnership.

Support from the Australian government has helped to refurbish the new Centre as well as support research and policy initiatives for APEC 2018, including hosting PNG’s first APEC Study Centre Consortium Conference held on 14–15 May 2018 in Port Moresby.

APEC centre callout details

PNG APEC Study Centre is calling for expressions of interest to present high quality research, policy and best practices paper at the two-day APEC Study Centre Consortium Conference in Port Moresby on May 14 and 15th, 2018.

Subsequent to the conference, each presenter will be invited to speak for a maximum of 20 minutes, followed by a group of Q&A at the end of each session.

Establishing the PNG APEC Study Centre

The Study Centre was established through a memorandum of understanding signed between the Government of PNG via the Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council (NEC) and the PNG NRI in February 2017.

Four full-time personnel have been recruited and the physical set-up of the Centre is anticipated to be completed early next year.
