Joe Joyce blasts past Donnie Palmer in third heavyweight bout as a professional

The 2016 Rio silver medallist landed a solid jab in the opening seconds before rocking his opponent with a right-hand to the body.

Bursting with confidence, the 6ft 6in Londoner unleashed a flurry of punches forcing Palmer onto the back foot.

Joyce finished the Boston-based boxer in style with a sharp two-punch combination, leaving Palmer in a heap in the centre of the ring. Palmer looked unsteady as he got to his feet, leaving referee Jeff Hinds no choice but to bring the contest to a halt.

Debut success for Joyce, Page

Joyce, narrowly beaten by Frenchman Tony Yoka in the super-heavyweight final at Rio 2016, put Lewison (12-3-1-KO8) under almost constant pressure and badly damaged his opponent's right eye before sealing victory on a card promoted by David Haye's Hayemaker team.

The long-time amateur star had the better of the opening two rounds, doing most of his best work from distance and making full use of his clear height and reach advantage.
