Yakasa announces plans to address ongoing fights in Enga

Yakasa said the consultation will go in line with the three months ceasefire agreement which was signed in Port Moresby on Wednesday March 13th 2024 by the warring tribes in the Middle Lai, Aiyale and Tsaka Valley of Wapenamanda.

Judge Refuses To Preside Over Matter

The appeal is against the National Court decision that nullified the appointment of David Manning as Commissioner of Police, and Secretary to the then Department of Police.

He revealed this to the parties this morning in court. Sir Gibbs said his decision was for transparency sake and to avoid bias after his wife had informed him that Commissioner Manning had invited her for coffee last week.

The Chief Justice said the meeting between Commissioner Manning and his spouse took place at Brian Bell Home Centre where his wife happened to be doing shopping.

Court dismisses Kalaut application

The pair were seeking to dismiss an appeal application at the Supreme Court filed by current Police Commissioner David Manning, for want of prosecution.

The decision was handed down on Friday 30th July 2021.

The matter was presided over by Justice Ellenas Batar, Justice Stephen Kassman and Justice Peter Toliken at the Waigani Supreme Court.

Through their lawyer David Doataona, Kalaut and Yakasa argued that since they filed their application on January 26th, the defendant has not progressed their appeal.

PNG High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Fred Yakasa said this when addressing a gathering in Honiara this week to mark 16 days of activism on gender based violence.

He urged to Solomon Islands Government to commit to address this issue.

Yakasa said this year’s theme; “You, me Stan Tugeda fo Endim Vaelens” couldn’t be more appropriate.
