Million Kina HELP Programme

Prime Minister James Marape has announced this yesterday (25 January, 2022) when giving an update on higher education in the country.

“This Government is fully-committed to ensure quality education is accessed by all students in an affordable manner,” PM Marape said.

“The HELP is a signature programme introduced by my Government in 2019 when we took office, and was first implemented in 2020.

“This is a loan scheme for the students who cannot afford school fees in tertiary institutions.

Financial assistance needed for roads

Minister for National Planning and Monitoring, Richard Maru, revealed this following a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to PNG, Xue Bing.

According to a statement from the Ministry, Maru met Ambassador Bing where he thanked his Excellency for the great support from China to PNG through its Development Aid Assistance Program.

Minister Maru also acknowledged the recent support of 62 military vehicles worth K17.5 million for the PNG Defence Force.

The Minister said the Government will request further financial assistance from China for the upgrade of roads.
