School kriket program producing stars

The BSP School Kriket Programme continues to produce the best cricketers in the country.

The 14-man Hebou PNG U19 Garamuts squad that will be travelling on Saturday to Apia, Samoa, to compete at 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup – East Asia-Pacific Qualifier 2017 are all products of the BSP School Kriket Programme.

Cricket PNG’s regional/Kriket Blo Olgeta (KBO) coordinator, Vaianna Gabba, was delighted to hear this news.

“We are proud to say that 100 percent of the 14-man Garamuts squad making the team are products of the BSP School Kriket Programme.

“It is a result that the junior development program of Cricket PNG, funded by the leading Bank South Pacific, is doing a great job in producing good cricketers – who have eventually made the national team.

“Credit must go to the schools, teachers and the development officers at Cricket PNG for their hard work,” said Gabba.

Garamuts captain, Vagi Karoho, who went to Pari Primary School, learnt cricket through the BSP School Kriket Programme and acknowledged the program as the best pathway for junior cricketers.

“I have seen the BSP School Kriket Program as the best pathway for junior cricket. And I believed that being part of it would make me a better cricketer which I loved all my life – my dream has come true.

“And this time being appointed leader, I am delighted and grateful and also challenged to be the best and be confident and fair and just in making decisions for the team as a whole; to stand and raise the flag,” said Karoho.
