PNG Games: WNB leads tally in paralympic codes

Home team West New Britain bagged 7 medals in the different paralympic sporting codes played during the BSP 7th PNG Games in Kimbe.

Bagging 4 gold medals for the Province were Peter Noel who ran the 3000 metre long distance event, Vavon Ignasia for the 400 metre dash under the ambulant women category, Samson Mason for the ambulant male 400 metre dash and Christine Wibeyaba under the 50 metre dash under the Down Syndrome, women's category.

They were followed by the neighbouring province of Eats New Britain, who grabbed five medals consisting of 1 gold medal through Patrick Ponope for the 400 meter Intellectual Deficiency (I.D) men's category, three silver in the likes of Rolenzia Waliliu who played for the seated shot put under the ambulant women's category, one silver medal through Bonny Antonia under the ambulant women's 400 metre dash and Pennington Sevenal under the Intellectual Deficiency men's division. Bronze was bagged by Lorenzia Waliliu again for the women's ambulant javelin.

Morobe grabbed 4 medals, seeing a gold through the seated shot put, a silver medal under the female ambulant javelin grabbed by Wendy John and 2 bronze medals through Belinda Moses under the women's ambulant seated shot put and another via the 400 metre dash for men's Intellectual Deficiency category.

Manus got 3 medals, 1 gold, silver and bronze medal each for ambulant javelin, both male and female respectively, and a bronze medal for the ambulant women's 400 metre dash.

Central and Simbu grabbed 2 medals each. Central bagging a silver medal through Allan Steven in the ambulant male 400 metre dash and a bronze in ambulant male javelin through Eddie Peter.

Simbu saw Agnes Michael flying their flag high by grabbing a gold and a bronze medal, one for ambulant female and the other for female seated shot put.
