Givim 60 Athletics Club boosted

Mayur Resources has come onboard to support the Givim 60 Athletics Club with sporting gears currently used by the six athletes at this weekend’s National championships at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

Givim 60 six athletes comprising of the Hou brothers Ratu, John Junior, Joseph Keaea, Henry Iva and siblings Herman and Lance Philip including head coach/ trainer John Hou were presented with track shoes, top, shorts and walk out shirts (K9 by Mayur Resources security and community manager Peter Harry at the SJGS on Thursday afternoon.

Harry made the presentation on behalf of the company managing director Paul Mulder, Head of exploration Thomas Charlton and director business affairs and former Brisbane Broncos rugby league star Darren Lockyer.

The rugby league legend approved the sponsorship for the club based at Kaugere, Foster Street but feeder to Gulf Athletics.

He said the trio has made it possible for the athletes currently competing in their events on the final day of competition (Sunday).

On behalf of the firm, Harry thanked Mayur Resources for the timely donation to support the athletes’ preparations leading to the 2023 PNG Games in Port Moresby.

“This is just the beginning and will not end here as this is Mayur Resources community obligation to support community orientated activities to occupy and actively involve youths in human resource development through sports,” the manager said.

“Mayur Resources also supported the Gulf Isou Rugby League franchise in Digicel Cup, Team Gulf in the  PNG Games and also other activities”,

Club head coach, John Hou senior added that the sponsorship is timely and morale boosting as it encourages the six athletes to run the track in their brand new sporting gears in style and is proud of the company’s generous gesture.

Hou said, “We are not looking at winning but to expose and develop our raw talented materials like Keaea, Philip brothers and Iva new to the track and championships.”

Hou’s two sons Ratu and John Jr are the two experienced athletes and said they were proud of the sponsorship of the sporting gears giving confidence and pride to represent Gulf Province.

The siblings are of mix parentage of Gulf and Solomon Islands.

He summed it up with Keaea coming all the way from Muru village, Gulf to taste the track and competition as the surprise guy running in the 800 metres yesterday for the first time.
