First win for Barras on tour

The Hebou PNG Barramundis registered their first win of their Queensland and Northern Territory tour yesterday.

It came from their defeat over Northern Territory Strike by an innings in the 2-Day encounter in Darwin.

Resuming play at 1/3 on the final day, NT Strike got off to a steady start with Ben Wakim (17) and Jacob Dickman (13) taking the score to 41 before Dickman was stumped off the bowling of Lega Siaka.

The Barras then took control of the match, reducing NT Strike to 7/76.

Jacob Dick (30) and Matt Hammond (26) tried to steady the ship but the Barras were able to finish the job to leave NT Strike all out for 140 in 51.4 overs.

The wickets were shared among the bowlers with Norman Vanua (3/41) leading the way while Alei Nao (2/24), Chad Soper (2/28) and Mahuru Dai (2/28) all took two wickets each.

The Barras then batted again, with Vani Vagi Morea (53*) and Jack Vare-Kevere (37) leading the way.

The pair took the score to 2/102 off 24 overs before captain Assad Vala declared the innings closed.

NT Strike batted out the remaining 14 overs of the day at 1/89 before stumps were called.
