Robbery accused case now in National Court

The case involving one of the accused in the K1.2 million airport heist has progressed to the Waigani National Court and is now being prepared to undergo trial.

The accused, 35-year-old Jeremiah Kundi, briefly appeared today before Justice Panuel Mogish.

He was committed to the National Court for trial on 19 September and is currently on K1000 bail.

Kundi was arrested on information or allegations made by an accomplice involved in the airport robbery of Nov 3, where K1.2m was stolen from Tropicair.

He was charged with robbery on allegations he aided two other accomplice by providing them with a pistol used in the robbery.

Kundi is not allowed to travel out of NCD without the approval of the court till the case is determined.

Today, his lawyer and those of the state were told to file pre-trial review statements in preparation for trial.

The case will return to court next month.

Cases against other accused in the airport heist remain pending in court.
