The First Royal Pacific Islands Regiment (1RPIR) is on track with its security preparations ahead of the main APEC leaders’ week summit meet in November.
Named the Joint Task Force Group ‘Mero’, the troops are now engaged in Mission rehearsal exercises which started on June 12th.
The troops have been tasked to carry out their mission rehearsal exercises as part of the commanding officer’s certification.
The Commanding Officer of Joint Task Force Group Mero, Lt Colonel Boniface Aruma, says this exercise is to asses if the troops have captured his intent.
The current exercise will involve vital asset protection, vehicle check, urban patrols as well as combat fitness assessment activities.
Meantime, following this tasking, all groups involved in the Defense exercises will have to go through the Commander’s certification exercise in late July.
