PNGDF to Investigate PMGH incident

The PNG Defence Force does not condone the drunk behavior of the soldiers involved in the incident at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Sunday 18 December.

A statement released by the PNGDF this morning stated, “The headquarters PNG Defence Force has been made aware of the incident involving drunk soldiers at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Sunday.

“The Chief of Defence Force has ordered an urgent investigation into this matter and to ensure those involved are dealt with under the Code of Military Discipline and appropriate actions taken to ensure no repetition of such ill-discipline behavior occurs again.”

Dr Paki Molumi, this morning said staff on duty last night confirmed that soldiers who were under the influence of liquor terrorized doctors and nurses in the Emergency ward because did not attend to their colleague on time.

Dr Molumi also confirmed that three medical monitors, worth more than K25,000, were destroyed by the soldiers.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Silva Sika confirmed with this newsroom that NCD CID Officers are attending to the incident.
