Marum given all clear: Team doctor

PNG LNG Kumuls Coach Michael Marum is well and is back at work to prepare his team for next week’s Pool C Round 2 Rugby League World Cup clash against Ireland in Port Moresby.

Marum was taken to hospital straight after the big win over Wales yesterday (Saturday) after experiencing cramps to his arms and ribs.

Kumuls Team Doctor Gideon Kendino said the coach had cramps on his arms and around the ribs. “The match doctors checked him in the dressing room and due to RLWC protocols and requirements, he was taken to hospital to ensure full medical checks were done,” Dr Kendino said.

“I am pleased to say all tests were completed overnight and the coach is fit and healthy,” he said. “He was discharged from hospital this morning after being given the all clear and has returned to work.”

Marum extended his gratitude to everyone for their prayers and get well messages.

“Mi orait ia. (I am alright). We were following RLWC protocols and processes and I thank them for their assistance,” the coach said. “A big thanks to everyone for your prayers and get well messages. I really appreciate it.”

The Kumuls had a recovery session this morning and take a rest this afternoon before getting back to full training tomorrow.

“Thank you all for your support in the big win over Wales yesterday,” Marum said. “We have a seven day turnaround so will prepare well this week for our game against Ireland next Sunday at the NFS in Port Moresby,” he said.
