Lae Police receive timely Easter blessing

The Blue lights donated by business houses in Lae was an Easter blessing for local Police, says Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jnr.

“After observing how dangerous it has been for Police to do vehicles checks at night, I went about to obtain quotations for portable blue lights.

“This was to enable my suburban Police stations to conduct random roadblocks at night, to check on traffic offences, suspicious persons travelling in vehicles and deter movement of stolen motor vehicles.

“Quote was collected from Niugini Electrical Lae for 20 pieces, valued at K12,100.

“Due to funding constraints we were planning on asking the Lae District Administration to assist with the purchase, four sets at a time, to ease the burden of payment.

“While in the process of having this done, I was informed yesterday (Thursday) that Niugini Electrical was going to make a small presentation,” Wagambie Jnr said.

Niugini Electrical and NFC Freighters donated 10 sets, valued at K6 050.

The portable stands were donated by NFC Freighters, while the blue lights and batteries were donated by Niugini Electrical Lae.

Greg Finall speaking on behalf of the companies said, “the two companies were more than willing to assist Police, simply because they have confidence in Lae Police and that they have seen and experienced a big difference within the city since last year.”
