Kikori MP queries previous funding

Most of you were in the past government; what happened to the more than K100 million for Kikori district?

Minister for Youth, Religion and Community Development and Kikori MP, Soroi Eoe, posed this question during the swearing in of the District Development Authority’s new board members.

“I know each and every one of you. You know the issues in the district. Maybe you did not do what is right because of the past leadership,” said Eoe.

“But under my chairmanship, I will be straight that we need to see real tangible change.”

He said the Kikori District Development Authority board is now set to implement some of their urgent projects.

The MP is now ready to expand funding to some major projects, namely in education and health sectors.

Eoe bluntly warned the new members to start working or consider resigning and doing something other than leading the people.

“I will not tolerate complacency, stealing and laziness in my DDA as the chairman. Kikroi district has nothing for us to be proud of. It is a shame!

“I am not here to witch-hunt anyone. I want to see that change happens,” Eoe said.

Furthermore, he said all members have sworn an oath to serve the people.

He urged each member to take the oath seriously and serve the people they represent.

Eoe said his DDA now has about K1 million to work with.

Meanwhile, he announced that the DDA would have its first meeting in two weeks’ time in Ihu.

The new board members are deputy Gulf Governor and  long serving Ihu LLG president,  Charles Maiu, East Kikori president Raymond Taudevan, West Kikori president Wilson Baidu, Baimuru president Kaivila Omae. The three appointed members are retired warrant officer Ken Uhara as church representative, David Nia as youth representative and Lina Ori as women’s representative.
