Gulf Police launch Christmas, New Year Operations

Police in Gulf Province today launched its Christmas and New Year Operations in Kerema town.

A parade consisting of regular Policemen and Policewomen and reservists from Malalaua and Kerema Police Station marked the official opening of the operations. 

The host parade was led by Gulf Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Jeffrey Lemb. 

Kerema Open MP, Thomas Opa and Southern Acting Assistant Commissioner Clement Dalla were also present to witness the occasion. 

PPC Lemb said, “The operation will ensure mothers, children and communities enjoy the festive season period peacefully.” 

He said the first phase of the Christmas and New Year Operations started on 14 November under its law and awareness program. 

He thanked the Kikori DDA for funding support of K93,000 which funded the first phase of the operation and through the Christmas and New Year period. 

Meanwhile, a liquor ban in Gulf has been imposed and is effective as of today, December 14 till January 2nd 2023.
