8 men stand trial over G4S robbery

Eight men will stand trial this afternoon at the Waigani National Court over their alleged involvement in the K6 million G4S robbery of 2013.

The trial will be presided by Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika from 1.30pm today.

The accused to stand trial are Samson Banaso, Casper Louis, Bore Burom, Alphonse Samson, Hubert Korede, Stewart Korina, Gelison William and Sonix Alowale.

Paul Steven, whose matter is also set for trial today, raised issues about his legal representation this morning. His matter is now pending legal representation.

Two others are now serving time at Bomana for their involvement in the robbery. They are Thomas Karo and Ricky Antio. Both men pleaded guilty to receiving stolen monies.

Willie Allan is also another man alleged to be involved in the robbery. His case is still pending in the Committal Court.
