Case against alleged robber struck out

Public Prosecutors today informed the Waigani National Court, they will not proceed with the case against Wille Allan, of Bereina, Central province.

His case was struck out after a statement (Nolle Prosequi) was presented before Justice George Manuhu.

Allan was charged with one count of conspiring to commit a crime, aggregate robbery and receiving stolen properties.

He allegedly conspired with Paul Steven and Ricky Antio (both now serving time in Bomana) between 1 September 2013 and 5 October 2013 to commit a crime (rob MayBank).

Verdict on K6m robbery to be handed down today

This is the biggest armed robbery of any bank in the country's history at one time where armed men took off with K5.96 million on 4 October 2013.

Paul Steven, Samson Banaso, Hubert Korede, Stewart Korina and Gelison William have been on trial for the past three weeks over the crime.

The trial will be presided by Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika from 1.30pm today.

The accused to stand trial are Samson Banaso, Casper Louis, Bore Burom, Alphonse Samson, Hubert Korede, Stewart Korina, Gelison William and Sonix Alowale.

Paul Steven, whose matter is also set for trial today, raised issues about his legal representation this morning. His matter is now pending legal representation.
