Felix Kange, 39 of Maia village, Pangia, Southern Highlands Province had the allegations against him read in court, a month after his arrest.
He was arrested by police in June 2 and has been in custody at the Waigani Police station since.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar in reading his charge in court said Kange allegedly murdered Morove on the night of May 14 at the family home at Garden Hills.
He was arrested on June 2 and charged under section 300 of the Criminal Code Act.
The second allegation against Kange is that he escaped from lawful custody on June 3 from the holding cell while in lawful custody.
He was charged under section 139 of the Criminal Code Act.
With the arraignment done today, he is expected to be brought up to Bomana where he will be remanded.
He is expected back in the committal court for mention on August 11.
Magistrate Bidar said the practise in PNG criminal cases is to arrest and later go look for evidence.
