Earthquake Relief Walk for Life this Sunday

The NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, is dedicating this Sunday's yoga and walk for life towards the earthquake relief.

He is urging all city residents, business houses and politicians to show grief and solidarity.

Governor Parkop said community walks are a way of showing this in the face of insurmountable adversity. Adding that coming out together on Sunday will send a positive message that the capital city is here for them.

He adds that he will also take that opportunity to launch an appeal calling on all people, especially those in the corporate and business world, including banks to give generously.

"Monday February 26 will go down as a dark day in the history of PNG, but this Sunday March 4th will show that we will never be defeated."

Governor Parkop will lead the Earthquake Relief Walk for Life this Sunday, commencing at 5am, from Murray Barracks to Paga Hill.

The Mendi Muruks and the Southern Highlands Relief team have also confirmed they will be joining the Governor's walk.

Meantime, he said tents for donations will be set up on Monday at the City Hall.

Donation times will be open from 8am through to 10pm every day for a week or so.

He is calling on donations of cash but more specifically kind.

"Material is what they need at this time....come with whatever little you have. We are the capital city and we are here for our people. Let's show them that," he said.
