Planetshakers concert cancelled

Gospel rock band Planetshakers has called off the last day of its three-night concert in Port Moresby.

The concert started on Friday, August 25.

After the first night, numerous security concerns were raised by residents with reports of muggings, harassment, drunk and disorderly behaviour, and many more.

The event however, continued on the second night (August 26) as planned, but with increased security measures taken by organisers.

When contacted by Loop PNG yesterday, the committee said the concert will continue through.

But following the second event last night, Judah Memafu of the Believe Campaign group, the organisers of this event, has confirmed the cancellation.

“The Believe campaign has had an incredible two weeks of activity with very successful programs in schools, prisons, hospitals and rallies all across Papua New Guinea,” says the group.

“But due to a small, unsavoury element in each night crowd and advice from our local partners, we feel that for safety reasons, it is in the best interest of the general public that we cancel the event.”

Planetshakers, a Pentecostal Christian adults and youth movement in Melbourne, Australia, is also the name of the church band.
